Public school parents are facing many changes this school year. Mississippi school districts have switched to college- and career- ready standards (known as Common Core) and required literacy grade promotion. Expectations for students are changing as well as the expectations of the contributions from parents.
You are invited to come and be a part of a Parents for Public Schools of Jackson Learning Community in partnership with Tougaloo College’s Owens Health and Wellness Center. Join other parents, school officials and community members as we learn more about the current issues and policies affecting our children; then gain and design tools to help us support all students and their education.
Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. Sessions will take place in the Bennie G. Thompson Center on the campus of Tougaloo College. Please call PPSJ at 601.969.6015 for more information.
